Petra Grozaj graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb and graduated from the School of Applied Arts and Design in Zagreb. She has received the Rector’s Award from the University of Zagreb and the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, as well as several scholarships and redemption awards. She has been exhibiting since 1998. and has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions since, in country and abroad. She represented Croatia at the Biennial of Young Artists (BJCEM) in Naples. She has resided at art residencies at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, GlogauAIR in Berlin, One sided story / Spinnerei and De / construction of painting Hafen Kombinat in Leipzig, where she has repeatedly resided in the studio at the Spinnerei Art Center since 2012. She exhibits at Museum of Contemporary Art Zagreb, HDLU Zagreb Barrel Gallery, Künstlerhaus Bethanien Berlin, etc. She is a member of HDLU and HZSU. Her works are in private and gallery collections in the country and abroad.
Her work is mainly focused at autobiographical themes and wishes to comment on her personal experiences from near and wider surroundings. Motivated by everyday life, she comments reality, creating a personal diary in images. She usually connects things to herself so the works are mirroring contemporary life and society that she is living in and it’s also a medium for reflection of situations, relations and introspections from a particular ironic view.
