The presented works are the materializations of a consistent research approach to painting within which creative impulses are formed through words, symbols or signs. The mirroring of personal emotional nature in dark painting surfaces is reflected in the sign system that composes the image and understanding this visual system in the context of personal iconography is less about literal reading than observing the image as a carrier of message and different interpretations. The notion of painterly semiotics and the process that C. S. Peirce calls semiosis the continuous translation of one sign system into another and it is based on the elementary assumption that something can be a sign when a certain interpreter interprets it as a sign of something (cf. J. Bučan). In this sense, the backbone of the work is the decomposition of the elusiveness of the interpretation of archetypal visual invocations and the connection of artistic situations with the unconscious codes of the human imagination.
