ART DE FACTO was founded in Zagreb in 2002 and is focused on valorization, (re)interpretation, and preservation of cultural and artistic photographic heritage. The founder and artistic director of the organization is Darko Bavoljak. Through the organization, Bavoljak is oriented toward research, development, promotion, and contextualization of innovative artistic practices in photography and new media and practices that promote positive social change and inclusiveness. Programs that ART DE FACTO implements are based on scientific research and artistic work and follow current problems in photography and new media, avant-garde artistic practices, and art theory through themes and content. The purpose of the activity is to raise general visual literacy, promote and contextualize photographic and artistic works that belong to new media; television, the Internet, mobile media, iPOD, and the production of new artistic creations, the creation of new knowledge and the systematic development of photography theory.
