Mladen Vukres is a middle-generation painter he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in the class of Prof. Igor Roncevic. Despite his tendency to experiment during his education, he remains faithful to classic painting. With each work, he confirms himself as an inventive author, and his curiosity results in experiments and frequent bold changes in expression. Nurturing personal expression, so far in his work he managed to unite the pop culture of the whole world and to practice the reflection of the media in the painting experience in formally and thematically diverse cycles.  He presents himself anew with conceptually designed painting cycles dedicated to unique motifs taken from magazines, books, comics, films, popular video games, etc. – first, in the Forces cycle, he was a soldier, then at the “Tatoo” exhibition he elaborated tattoo motifs, and he brought the comic book hero to life in Spiderman cycle, he flirted with the Croatian naïve and pop heroes. He artistically elaborates the motifs he takes from the Internet in a recognizable, painterly, cultivated, and vital reinterpretation.
