The Wasteland is an arts organization named after a poem by T.S. Eliot from 1922. Our goal is the presentation of various artistic achievements in the context of contemporary civilization, strongly connected with the development of technology.
At Art Zagreb 2023, we will present Marija Dejanović’s poem How to invent history?
The poem will come out as a digital text programmed like a video game, in which the reader will be able to respond to the existing verses with different continuations offered. Considering his answer, the poem will unravel in different directions. After reading a poem, he will be able to save its version as well as start reading again and discover verses that he did not discover in the previous reading. In this way, the form itself calls for re-readings and reflections on the text, with other predispositions brought into the reader by experience or a different emotional state.
