Cash & Carry

The project “Cash & Carry” was realized in co-organization of the Croatian Art Fair – Art Zagreb and the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, as the fourth edition of the sales exhibition of students of the Zagreb Academy and young artists – alumni of the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, in the Bačva Gallery of the Meštrović Pavilion.
In the desire to create new opportunities for students and artists of the younger generation, by providing an irreplaceable experience of presenting and selling their works to a general audience and by motivating artists to develop their creativity, and in the situation of the absence of sales intermediaries and galleries focused on upcoming artistic names, a sales exhibition was launched in which students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb and graduated artists of the younger generation participate.
The realization of this project is prompted by the success of the traditional Cash & Carry exhibition, which has been held for eighteen years at the famous Jabukovac at the Teaching Department of the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Zagreb, as well as three editions of the pilot project Pay and Carry held in 2018, 2019 and 2022 in the Meštrović Pavilion. In addition to providing incentives for art students and younger artists, the “Pay and Carry” sales exhibition allows citizens to purchase contemporary artworks by artists whose time is coming, as well as direct communication with young artists to establish more lasting connections.
Students in their final years of studies at the Departments of Painting, Sculpture, Graphic Arts and Teaching at the Academy of Fine Arts, as well as alumni who graduated in the past academic year 2023/2024, are invited to participate in this year’s, pre-Christmas edition of the “Pay and Carry” project. A total of 33 exhibitors responded to the invitation and will present their works in the medium of drawing, painting, sculpture and graphic arts.
During the event, visitors can purchase works by students and younger artists on site, on a pay-and-carry basis, at affordable prices, and be sure that they will take home a work of art selected by the parent and oldest art academy in Croatia – the Academy of Fine Arts, Zagreb.
In this way, “Cash & Carry” serves as a sales platform for young creators, enables them to further develop their careers, provides the general public with insight into the work of upcoming names on the Croatian art scene, and, through its holding, contributes to the diversity and pluralism of events on the cultural scene of the city of Zagreb.
