Svjetlan Junaković (Zagreb, Croatia, 1961) graduated in sculpture from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan in 1985. Since then, he has been actively involved in drawing, illustration, and sculpture. He is currently a full professor at the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of Zagreb. Junaković regularly exhibits his work both in Croatia and internationally. He is the author of numerous award-winning children’s books, which have been published in over 30 countries. In 2015, he received the Nazor Award, the most prestigious state award for art, for his exhibition of sculptures at the HAZ Glyptoteca. He has been nominated twice for the Hans Christian Andersen Illustrator Award, and his animated film “My Way” was recognized as the best at the Croatian Animated Film Festival in 2010. Junaković has also participated in the Annecy Festival and approximately one hundred other festivals.
