“Within Seeing” is a recently concluded exhibition by Gordana Bakić, presented on a smaller scale for Art Zagreb as part of the Sculpture in the Oktogon programme. The programme was launched in 2025 with a presentation of work by Daniel Kovač.
In “Within Seeing”, Gordana Bakić explores the relationship between space, time and the artistic process. Her spatial constructions are created by assembling, rearranging and reusing various materials, fragments of earlier works and everyday objects. The resulting spatial drawings resemble imaginary landscapes that continually change and evolve. As viewers move around the constructions, they discover new views and perspectives. The work is both a reflection on the artist’s previous practice and a continuation of her artistic exploration.
Academician Gordana Bakić (born in Zagreb in 1972) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in 2001, studying under Zlatko Keser, and completed a master’s degree in painting and video in Ljubljana in 2011. She is currently a full professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb and a full member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
